Dont take food from strangers!

Well, where do I start with this? OH took our 2 dogs to the beach with Mark, our son, last Friday. They called in a pub on the way back home, and an elderly man took a bag out of his pocket and gave them CHICKEN!! OH thought it was going to be a biscuit but the dogs had already eaten it before he could stop them! Both dogs have been very ill since then with upset stomachs. To make matters worse we were needed to stay at DDs home to take delivery of a parcel Monday morning, and I had a relative's birthday Tuesday and a dental appointment. Daughter still needed us to come as DPD had refused to arrange a delivery time except Monday all day. They even told her if nobody was home it would be returned and she could buy it in a shop at full price! It was a very difficult few days, with OH sleeping on an airbed on the kitchen floor so he could let the dogs out in the night, and undertake cleaning the floor. One dog has now improved but the other we took to our old South Gloucestershire vet yesterday, as she wasn't even keeping down much water. The vet injected her and she's improved today but still not right. Thank you that was £120 vet bill.

If you're reading this and you think, as many people do, that it's OK to give dogs, cats or any animals food that's not OK for people to eat please don't. If it would make you ill it will make the animals ill too. So many people think they are being kind and animals will be fine. They really aren't and can get food poisoning the same as us.

We're back home in Devon now for a few days, then back  babysitting for DDs Xmas work night out. I might go if our dog is OK, or stay here with the dogs, so OH can at least get a night's sleep in a bed looking after the granddaughter. She's 11 now, so quite independent, and just needs someone there for safety and company.

Today I'm wrapping the grandchildren's Xmas presents and posting family cards. I've just a few more things to buy then I'm finished. Family will be coming to stay on the 22nd so we will probably decorate then. Granddaughter likes trimming the tree so that's her job lol

Bye for now All the best

  1. That's awful Sally, both for your poor dogs and the inconvenience caused to you, not to mention the huge vet bill! Fortunately, our Betty isn't interested in taking treats or food from people outside our home. Hope the doggies fully recover soon.

  2. Thanks Sooze. The main problem is they will eat from anyone and people who think it's OK for a dog.
