Easter eggs/ Visitors/Phones
I managed to get hold of my daughter yesterday as she was shopping for my Easter Eggs. She usually buys them for us as it would be very expensive to post 7 Easter eggs and no guarantee they would arrive intact. They are for my 3 adult children, the DIL, and the 3 grandchildren. Unfortunately, she doesn't want to do it next year but I'm hoping she will change her mind lol 😅. They were very cheap in Lidl for medium Cadbury Eggs and only £15.75 for the lot. So, off upstairs I go to transfer her the money. Guess what, I'd forgotten to change the Internet provider on my laptop! So back downstairs to get the complicated password, and back upstairs again. That's not a big deal for most people, but for me, I'm now really out of breath as I have COPD. My lungs aren't working properly, so once up the stairs is fine, but twice in quick succession, and I'm very breathless.
I had a phone call yesterday from my nephew asking if he could stay Wednesday night with his girlfriend. Of course, I said yes as he's like a second son to us and has lived with us many times over the years. So today, we pulled out the sofa-bed in the office, and OH made it up for me. I tidied up the office, stacking all the empty boxes, sorted out a bag for the charity shop, and did the upstairs dusting, ready for the visitors tomorrow. I found a box full of my son's recycling for me to shred that was buried amongst the empty boxes! I think I may buy him a shredder for Xmas lol. While I was in the office I packed up the equipment from our old TV and Internet company ready to post. Apparently, they charge you over £150 if you don't send it back, but you get prepaid labels to print.
We still have no phone line in this area of Devon. It's been off for over 2 weeks, and the date now for the mast being fixed is April 17th!!! I'm using our WiFi to make calls and receive text messages, but that only works in the house. Basically, as I told the customer service rep, if I walk down the road and fall over, I can't ring anyone for help or phone an ambulance. On the plus side, he gave me a credit for 3 months of payments, but I'd rather have my phone working. Most of the networks are down, including 02 Vodafone Giffgaf, etc. Vodafone denied there was a problem at first, and told my OH to do a factory reset - tg he didn't! He put in a long complaint, and they admitted it was the wrong information and gave him compensation. Thinking about it, I feel that we rely on mobile phones far too much. The problem is there are very few phone boxes around nowadays, and most people don't bother with a landline anymore.
Bye for now All the best
