You're never alone for long lol

 We had almost 2 weeks here on our own which was nice to get things organised. I'd started back on developing a routine for the housework and decluttering. I'm trying to follow the Flylady method but it's difficult with so many coming and going. Sorted the cutlery drawers so only 9 of each knives, forks and spoons - that the maximum number here at any one time. Made a start on the filing and ebay listing too. OH bought some arm covers for the sofa as our dogs tend to jump onto them and they have sharp claws. He also bought a cheap wooden small table to fit on the armchair so I though the old rickety table had been binned. Then I discovered it in the conservatory painted blue with a plant on top!!! He's definitely a hoarder.


I must admit it does look rather nice!

Went to a jumble sale last weekend - haven't been to one for years. Didn't really want anything but I bought 3 tops as it was a charity event. We stopped in a nearby cafe for coffee and cake afterwards. We used to eat out once a month but our favourite restaurants are closed down now. We loved the Chinese restaurant but that closed during covid and never reopened. The other restaurant was the Ship in Cockwood which, sadly, had a whole wall collapse a year ago and is still the same now (albeit fenced off with scaffolding) It was in the online news this week as there's a problem with the insurance. Such a shame as people came for miles to eat there. They had a fantastic chef and a lovely, homely atmosphere.

Yesterday I emptied the last carrier bag of toys that daughter had brought a few weeks ago for me to sell. Had it all set out on the daybed in the office ready for photos when the phone rang. It was Mark saying could he come down for the night as he'd finished work at 1pm. Of course we said yes. So everything went back in the carrier, made the bed up and an hour later he was here. Nice having him here again though and OH cooked a lovely roast dinner last night. He left this afternoon after going to the beach and park dog walking with OH. They timed it right as an hour later its raining again.

An Update

 Well I went to the market in town which was lovely to look around. OH had a stall with others promoting the U3A. This is a club for people who are retired and over 50. OH has been playing Badminton, Bouls, Shooting at targets, visiting various Mansion houses and Gardens like the brochure and playing Chess. It did rain on and off but he was under the big tent there. I looked around but didn't buy anything as prices were high eg £5 for a pancake! The cleaning routine has been put on hold this week as,  apart from stripping the bed and doing 2 loads of washing I've been in quite a lot of pain from the tooth extraction so decided to rest. Feeling better today so hopefully it will continue healing now. Son did the vacuuming for me which was a big help. Managed to sell some china and clothes on ebay and send it all but thats about it.                                                      Ah well tomorrow is another day, the mañana approach here lol. The Dog Show

          1st Prize for the Waggiest Tail We decided to enter the dogs in the Dawlish Carnival Dog Show just for fun. Ava, our granddaughter, and our daughter were staying with us so Ava was delighted to take one of the dogs in the ring. She was closely followed by OH holding our other dog. Molly won the waggiest tail, coming first and was rewarded with a rosette and cone of dog biscuits. Her tail does wag constantly and at least twice the speed of other dogs lol. Nice afternoon there and thankfully the weather stayed dry for the day. Ava had a go on the bouncy castle and Mark won her a soft toy penguin on the rifle range. Managed to get the washing dry on the line today as tomorrow's forecast is heavy rain and thunder storms. It really seems like Autumn rather than August atm. The Carnival parade is tomorrow but we won't be going to that due to the weather. Bye for now All the best x

Busy times and what a Bargain

Ready for family visiting   Went back to my friend's home last week and OH sorted out the base for the greenhouse. He used to work as a buildings manager/builder so knew how to do it properly. Will probably go again in a few weeks when all visiting family leave. ATM we have son here for a fortnight and daughter, granddaughter and eldest son coming for next weekend! Quite a houseful really. I went to a car boot sale last weekend and bought 2 brand new, sealed in packet Dorma duvet covers and matching pillow cases. Can't believe the price only £13 for all of it. Has to be my bargain of the year. Also bought a pretty M&S top for me for £1 and a small football game table for the grandchildren.  OH bought a concrete Dragon garden ornament, another plant and a plant pot.  We also drove to Dawlish last week as they had an event on the lawns there with music and various drink and food stalls.
