On call and locked in a room lol
Well the weekend was quiet until Saturday afternoon as daughter had decided not to come and visit, and start decorating granddaughter's room. Saturday afternoon I started getting pictures of granddaughter's room being taken apart piece by piece ready for painting. Daughter has decided to replace the carpet, bedroom furniture and buy a double bed for granddaughter, who is delighted at getting a new bedroom. Unfortunately, after stripping everything out of the room she discovered a small area of wrinkles near the ceiling meaning a small plaster job will be needed, which will delay everything. Personally, I would have just painted over it but daughter, and one son, are perfectionists. Luckily, her cousin is experienced in dry lining so will sort it for her but painting will be delayed. Just as well as she hasn't even bought the paint yet! There followed lots of pictures of beds wardrobes and bedroom layouts, asking which i liked. So, poor granddaughter is sleeping on the floor on her mattress for quite a while.
Sunday was quiet, peaceful here. OH and I treated ourselves to a Chinese takeaway for dinner which made a nice change. Today, Monday at midday I had a panicked phone call from my granddaughter's phone. The daughter and granddaughter were locked in a room at the childcare facility she works at. The room can be entered with a pass ID card and exited by pressing a button. Except the button didn't work, and they were trapped. Quite what she expected me to do, being 100 miles away, I don't know. The facility was closed for the holidays, but 2 other members of staff were there, preparing for when the children return. She calmed down and found an internal phone in the room to ring around the other rooms. I did advise ringing 999 if she couldn't make the others hear her shouting, as I'm sure police would have attended or informed the manager. Told her to report the fault to the caretaker or manager as its obviously an electrical fault or computer. Not great if one of the children gets trapped in there.
I've also advised her not to sell the wardrobe and drawers until the new ones are purchased. I remember her removing the kitchen sink 4 weeks before the new kitchen arrived and washing up in the bath and garden lolol.
It is very nice to be shown pictures of what she's buying. I think she's forgotten that unless I see it very many times I won't have any memory of what it looks like lol. I have a visual memory impairment due to arguing with a bus and gaining a skull fracture when I was 13. I don't recognise people or places unless I see them many many times.
Tomorrow is Tuesday and here's hoping for a peaceful day. I'm sorry they didn't come to visit as I'm sure it would have been more peaceful lolol.
Bye for now All the best
How funny that your granddaughter rang you when they were temporarily trapped in the room - shows just how much she thinks of and trusts you!
