Patriotism and Catching up

The UK seems to have become very patriotic lately with Union Jack or England flags appearing everywhere. My problem is I wouldn't know which flag to put up! One side of my family were French immigrants and moved to England to marry and start a new life. I think they eloped. The other side were Welsh and English. So I had one parent with duel nationality as they were born in England, and the other parent half Welsh and half English. Now when it comes to religion I had Catholic, Church of England, Jewish, and Presbyterian in my immediate family so it's definitely a good mixture. I wasn't brought up religious, but father did want the 'last rights' from a Catholic priest and a Catholic funeral when he died. I don't speak Welsh at all, and my French is limited to what I learned at school alongside German and Latin. I wasn't very interested in any of them at the time sadly. Just to add to the mix 2 of my friends are Pagan. I believe that people are individuals first and foremost and should be treated as such. My philosophy is if someone is a nice, kind caring person then I like them regardless, but if they aren't, then I don't. That's my baseline regardless of religion, nationality, colour, sexual orientation, disability, wealth, etc. I do think most of the flags are really a protest against the boat people coming here illegally though.

I finally got to the end of the washing basket today. Made a cheese sauce for cauliflower cheese to go with tea. OH cooked the rest, gammon steak and chips.  I'm feeling stronger but still coughing all day. Its been light rain today here in South Devon so I've had the dryer on quite a lot trying to catch up. I think as long as I do something every day towards the housework eventually it will all be looking ship shape again soon. OH does vacuum a few times a week but doesn't notice anything else that looks dirty.

Bye for now All the best
