Shopping and Lung Screening.

We drove to B&Q last week to return the bath panels OH bought but didn't fit. About 6 months ago I slipped in the bath (didn't hurt myself) and the jolt caused a leak so the panels had to come off for the plumber to fix it. The panels didn't go back properly, as the plastic had deteriorated and corner pieces kept falling off. B&Q just had one size which definitely won't fit around our bath. I'm hoping OH will make a wooden surround in tongue and groove timber, as he did in our last house. It looked really nice painted white. While in Newton Abbot we had a look around the shops and I managed to get my shampoo and shower gel in Savers, at half the price it is in our nearest supermarket. Picked up 3 tins of shortcake biscuits for my 3 children for Xmas so I've officially started Xmas shopping now!

OH and I were invited to have Lung Cancer Screening which involved a telephone conversation and going to a supermarket car park for the appointment. I had to help OH with the phone converstion, as he tends to gloss over things or pretend they didn't happen! I made him admit he had worked, unofficially, moving asbestos sheets without any protection many years ago, as well as few other things as well. We are both smokers so it's worth having the screening, although OH has about 3 cigars a week and has never been addicted to tobacco. He can go weeks without a cigar and often does. It was a nice experience as you are just weighed, measured and then you lie on the machine bed fully clothed including shoes. The bed slides through a large white hoop. It tells you to take a deep breath, hold it for a few seconds and then breath. And that's it as there's no fasting, undressing, no injections nothing else. The machine takes less than 5 minutes and the staff are very nice and supportive. I was especially pleased when they seemed quite shocked that I was as old as I am. Made my day lol. You get the results in 4-6 weeks.

OH isn't well tonight as he has a sore throat, cough and a bad cold. It's probably 'man flu' but he went to bed at 6pm. If it's flu I won't catch it as I haven't had flu for over 20 years. Years ago I had contact with a family member who was diagnosed with TB so I had to take 2 lots of tablets for 6 months. I never had any symptoms of TB, and  had several completly clear X-rays. My 3 children were all vaccinated with BCG. Funny thing is I've never caught the flu since those tablets. I've slept in the same bed as OH several times when he's had flu, nursed one of my children with Swine flu, visited family with flu etc. Before those tablets I use to catch flu quite badly every single year.

Bye for now All the best x

Sally
