Home from Norway

We came home yesterday after a lovely week away on a cruise to Norway. The weather was 22C / 23C every day so I didn't need half of the clothes I'd packed - warm coat and jumpers, trousers etc. We booked the cheapest cabin at a very good price but 2 days before we sailed they upgraded us to a large balcony cabin. Apparently, the family who booked that cabin cancelled at the last minute. Complementary bath robes were included too! The ship was huge with lovely food in the dining room and self service restaurant. They're very keen on hygiene too, as you were directed to wash hands every time you entered. Staff very friendly and helpful and lovely shows to watch every night. Prices of drinks were expensive and they now use measures for alcohol.  We did get a small discount as we've both been on a few cruises before. I  went on 3 cruise trips with my employer years ago as his carer PA,  and we are both members of the ship's loyalty programme. The sea was so calm you didn't even know you were moving - probably unusual for the North Sea.

We docked at Bergen, Olden, Stavenger and Kristiansand. Very pretty places. Didn't buy anything really to bring back except a Xmas bauble with Norway written on it. Prices ashore are astronomical eg a small bottle of lager in a bar £8.50, padded jackets £60 - 80, cheap sandals identical to the ones OH saw here in Devon for £12 were £60 in Norway! They also sell a lot of Reindeer products eg gloves hats rugs made from Reindeer skin and products made from antlers. Same here really except its sheepskin rugs, gloves etc. Wages are much higher in Norway, and food and drinks cheap in their supermarkets. OH went on a bus trip to see a glacier while I just chilled on the ship. The mountains had a little snow on the peaks. It really is a
 Beautiful Country.

We had a 3 hour drive home from Southampton yesterday. Dogs have been badly spoilt by son taking them on 4 walks a day, to the fields and beach. Hope they don't expect that when he goes home tomorrow. We usually do a 1 hour walk once or twice a day lol

On with the washing and ironing today.

Bye for now All the best x
