That's Christmas Done!

 It was a bit chaotic here at Christmas as son, daughter and granddaughter all arrived. I did go to the pub Xmas Eve which was nice. They had a guitarist singing some old song like 'My old man's a dustman' which took me back to when I used to take my mum out Xmas Eve. She used to love the Salvation army band playing in the streets. Now I'm not religious at all but have every respect for the Salvation Army as they have an excellent brass band. They always turned up at our home with presents and food for mum and my siblings when I was young.  Also, they were the only people to get my late brother off of drugs permanently, and several other agencies had tried for years, including all the drug workers from various agencies, including social services They also found him accommodation as he was homeless at the time.

Back to Xmas, and we have presents everywhere, think bumper cars racing around the room with the dogs doing their best to avoid them lol. Good old Santa brought those. The kitchen worktops are piled high with biscuits and chocolate lol. Have at least 5 loads of washing to do and there's toothpaste all over the bathroom floor. Time to start the cleaning and not sitting writing this blog lol.

Granddaughter still believes in Santa so daughter took her on the polar express steam train 🚂 to meet him. It's an excellent trip apparently but quite expensive. Son left Boxing Day as he has to work on 27th. I wasn't too well on Xmas morning as I had stomach problems. I do suffer with IBS so probably all the stress and alcohol set it off lol.

Son bought me a laptop for Xmas! I really needed one as mine is over 10yrs old, very slow and won't hold a charge. Now, all I have to do is work out how to use it! I managed to print a label for the lego I sold on ebay so that's a good start. 3 sold and 19 little lego sets still to go. Granddaughter had a clear out before Xmas lol

 I only really use the laptop for ebay, banking and savings accounts. So as soon as I've added those to the desktop it's all good. Might put blogger on there and perhaps then I can add and reply to comments as myself, instead of only being anonymous on my phone lol

An Update

 Well I went to the market in town which was lovely to look around. OH had a stall with others promoting the U3A. This is a club for people who are retired and over 50. OH has been playing Badminton, Bouls, Shooting at targets, visiting various Mansion houses and Gardens like the brochure and playing Chess. It did rain on and off but he was under the big tent there. I looked around but didn't buy anything as prices were high eg £5 for a pancake! The cleaning routine has been put on hold this week as,  apart from stripping the bed and doing 2 loads of washing I've been in quite a lot of pain from the tooth extraction so decided to rest. Feeling better today so hopefully it will continue healing now. Son did the vacuuming for me which was a big help. Managed to sell some china and clothes on ebay and send it all but thats about it.                                          ...

Busy times and what a Bargain

Ready for family visiting   Went back to my friend's home last week and OH sorted out the base for the greenhouse. He used to work as a buildings manager/builder so knew how to do it properly. Will probably go again in a few weeks when all visiting family leave. ATM we have son here for a fortnight and daughter, granddaughter and eldest son coming for next weekend! Quite a houseful really. I went to a car boot sale last weekend and bought 2 brand new, sealed in packet Dorma duvet covers and matching pillow cases. Can't believe the price only £13 for all of it. Has to be my bargain of the year. Also bought a pretty M&S top for me for £1 and a small football game table for the grandchildren.  OH bought a concrete Dragon garden ornament, another plant and a plant pot.  We also drove to Dawlish last week as they had an event on the lawns there with music and various drink and food stalls. OH enjoyed testing the different beers lol. I'm not Tea- Total but don't drink ...

The Dog Show

          1st Prize for the Waggiest Tail We decided to enter the dogs in the Dawlish Carnival Dog Show just for fun. Ava, our granddaughter, and our daughter were staying with us so Ava was delighted to take one of the dogs in the ring. She was closely followed by OH holding our other dog. Molly won the waggiest tail, coming first and was rewarded with a rosette and cone of dog biscuits. Her tail does wag constantly and at least twice the speed of other dogs lol. Nice afternoon there and thankfully the weather stayed dry for the day. Ava had a go on the bouncy castle and Mark won her a soft toy penguin on the rifle range. Managed to get the washing dry on the line today as tomorrow's forecast is heavy rain and thunder storms. It really seems like Autumn rather than August atm. The Carnival parade is tomorrow but we won't be going to that due to the weather. Bye for now All the best x
