Hiding in the Cupboard

 Out shopping again today and managed to finish buying all the alcohol we give to our Adult children. Popped in the chemist and I was offered a blood pressure test. They are running free testing in Boots here to pick up anyone with undiagnosed high blood pressure. Mine was slightly over normal but ok for now. Went in the bank and got some cash for 2 of the eldest grandchildren for Xmas; one loves hitting the shops and the other is saving up for a game so they will be pleased with that. Almost finished getting all the biscuits, crackers, mince pies etc that I've stored in a kitchen cupboard and told OH not to touch until family comes here at Xmas time. I've put a note on the shelf to remind him lolol.

In our last home I used to put it all above my wardrobe, but the top of the wardrobe here is full of spare duvets pillows etc ready for overnight visitors. Just need a Yule log and a tin of biscuits and dry goods are complete. Feel like I'm making progress now organising Xmas.

Tomorrow I'm finishing packing all the bottles in bags and starting on ordering presents for Daughter and Granddaughter. My office (aka spare bedroom) is full up with Xmas stuff and Ebay stuff atm. Ebay sales are going well and I don't know if this is because of Xmas or because I've changed the postage from evri to Royal mail 48. I have noticed this weekend people are taking a lot longer to pay though. Could be because of the bad weather as I'm seeing on the news many people don't have electricity or water due to flooding or heavy snow. Sadly no snow here. Daughter got caught on a flooded road tonight but managed to get through it OK tg.

An Update

 Well I went to the market in town which was lovely to look around. OH had a stall with others promoting the U3A. This is a club for people who are retired and over 50. OH has been playing Badminton, Bouls, Shooting at targets, visiting various Mansion houses and Gardens like the brochure and playing Chess. It did rain on and off but he was under the big tent there. I looked around but didn't buy anything as prices were high eg £5 for a pancake! The cleaning routine has been put on hold this week as,  apart from stripping the bed and doing 2 loads of washing I've been in quite a lot of pain from the tooth extraction so decided to rest. Feeling better today so hopefully it will continue healing now. Son did the vacuuming for me which was a big help. Managed to sell some china and clothes on ebay and send it all but thats about it.                                          ...

The Dog Show

          1st Prize for the Waggiest Tail We decided to enter the dogs in the Dawlish Carnival Dog Show just for fun. Ava, our granddaughter, and our daughter were staying with us so Ava was delighted to take one of the dogs in the ring. She was closely followed by OH holding our other dog. Molly won the waggiest tail, coming first and was rewarded with a rosette and cone of dog biscuits. Her tail does wag constantly and at least twice the speed of other dogs lol. Nice afternoon there and thankfully the weather stayed dry for the day. Ava had a go on the bouncy castle and Mark won her a soft toy penguin on the rifle range. Managed to get the washing dry on the line today as tomorrow's forecast is heavy rain and thunder storms. It really seems like Autumn rather than August atm. The Carnival parade is tomorrow but we won't be going to that due to the weather. Bye for now All the best x

Busy times and what a Bargain

Ready for family visiting   Went back to my friend's home last week and OH sorted out the base for the greenhouse. He used to work as a buildings manager/builder so knew how to do it properly. Will probably go again in a few weeks when all visiting family leave. ATM we have son here for a fortnight and daughter, granddaughter and eldest son coming for next weekend! Quite a houseful really. I went to a car boot sale last weekend and bought 2 brand new, sealed in packet Dorma duvet covers and matching pillow cases. Can't believe the price only £13 for all of it. Has to be my bargain of the year. Also bought a pretty M&S top for me for £1 and a small football game table for the grandchildren.  OH bought a concrete Dragon garden ornament, another plant and a plant pot.  We also drove to Dawlish last week as they had an event on the lawns there with music and various drink and food stalls. OH enjoyed testing the different beers lol. I'm not Tea- Total but don't drink ...
