They came again and again and again

 Well the dogs recovered well so I didn't need to go back to the vet tg. I did splash out on a steam mop to do all the floors. I've convinced myself that 100 degree steam will kill guiardia as it lives in cool or cold water so did most of the house and rug in the living room. I find it quite hard to push but the floors look very clean with just using plain water. It's not much good on the conservatory textured vinyl so will carry on using a normal mop and bucket there.

We'd just got the dogs back to normal when daughter and granddaughter arrived. Didn't even tell me they were coming and arrived Monday evening for the last week of the school holidays. They left Friday and we travelled to daughter's home on the Saturday. She had arranged a party for me in a local pub for my birthday 🎂  Our old neighbours from where we used to live came as well as lots of family members and their children. I counted 24 altogether which was a good turn out. We went out for a Chinese meal with sons, Daughter-in-law, daughter and our 3 grandchildren in the evening. Back home the next day but not alone for long...

Mark came on the following Friday for 2 nights as he had a few days off. Then he went home for one night to work the next day and turned up again the day after. His job depends on shipping and he's often off work if the weather is stormy. We all went to Exeter shopping and I bought a top and a bomber jacket with my birthday money. Mark bought some much needed jeans and then we all had lunch before coming home. Lunch was nice and reasonably priced as we tried a Lebanese restaurant in Exeter center. I'd go again as I liked the food. Mark went home afterwards. I've left his bed made incase he turns unexpectedly again lol.

Sometimes I feel like we're running a B&B here for our kids lol. This Sunday I'm off to daughter's home for a dental appointment on Monday. We always travel the day before as the M5 can have major hold ups due to accidents  Crazy really that I have to travel 100 miles to a NHS dentist as there are none with availability in Devon - only private dentists here which are very expensive.

 Well I went to the market in town which was lovely to look around. OH had a stall with others promoting the U3A. This is a club for people who are retired and over 50. OH has been playing Badminton, Bouls, Shooting at targets, visiting various Mansion houses and Gardens like the brochure and playing Chess. It did rain on and off but he was under the big tent there. I looked around but didn't buy anything as prices were high eg £5 for a pancake! The cleaning routine has been put on hold this week as,  apart from stripping the bed and doing 2 loads of washing I've been in quite a lot of pain from the tooth extraction so decided to rest. Feeling better today so hopefully it will continue healing now. Son did the vacuuming for me which was a big help. Managed to sell some china and clothes on ebay and send it all but thats about it.                                                      Ah well tomorrow is another day, the mañana approach here lol. Clearing up and a trip to the pub

 Daughter went home on Friday with the granddaughter so it's just our son here now. I think they had a good week, but granddaughter managed to break her arm running down a slide into a wall! I had started trying to teach her to knit but 2nd lesson didn't happen due to her arm in plaster for the next 4 weeks. So it was off to the amusement machines where she won lots of tickets and exchanged them for sweets. Found money left in the machine trays too so kids aren't very careful to check. Only 2ps but lots of them. The big clean up has now started here as I do very little when family stay over. Three loads of washing so far and more tomorrow. Did the ironing today which I like doing. Managed to get most things dry on the washing line and finished it up in the dryer. All the visitors' bedding is packed away in the top of my wardrobe. Bought some grey zipped storage bags on Amazon which keeps the duvets and pillows tidy. It feels like Autumn here today and there's a chil

The Dog Show

          1st Prize for the Waggiest Tail We decided to enter the dogs in the Dawlish Carnival Dog Show just for fun. Ava, our granddaughter, and our daughter were staying with us so Ava was delighted to take one of the dogs in the ring. She was closely followed by OH holding our other dog. Molly won the waggiest tail, coming first and was rewarded with a rosette and cone of dog biscuits. Her tail does wag constantly and at least twice the speed of other dogs lol. Nice afternoon there and thankfully the weather stayed dry for the day. Ava had a go on the bouncy castle and Mark won her a soft toy penguin on the rifle range. Managed to get the washing dry on the line today as tomorrow's forecast is heavy rain and thunder storms. It really seems like Autumn rather than August atm. The Carnival parade is tomorrow but we won't be going to that due to the weather. Bye for now All the best x
