Another Nightmare
Well where do I start with this. I expect most readers are aware of what's happening with South West Water in Brixham and Paignton. Basically they have failed in providing clean drinking water to thousands of residents in South Devon and it's been contaminated with a parasite called cryptosporidium. I wasn't too worried as I haven't been to Brixham for years but then I started reading comments on local sites. SWW are now paying compensation to areas affected - first it was £15, then £115 and now it will be £215. They are also giving out free bottles of water to people in the area and advising affected areas to boil all water. So far so good not my area but ...
I'm reading on various local sites that Plymouth, East Devon, Torquay, Exeter, Newton Abbot, Dawlish, Exmouth and Teignmouth all have many people with symptoms of cryptosporidium!! So I'm now boiling all water, including the dogs' water, using boiled water for cooking, washing salad and cleaning teeth. I'm convinced they know it's a far wider area but thinking about it if they admitted it they would have to provide far more bottles of water and pay thousands in compensation. People in Brixham reported the illness weeks before it was made public but were told it definitely was not the water, even after positive medical tests for this parasite. So they hung on denying it until the media became involved. My advise to anyone in South Devon is definitely don't drink the water atm as this is much wider spread than is being admitted. They have drained a reservoir and are cleaning it atm. Now they wouldn't be doing that for 46 cases in Brixham and Paignton would they?
Son Mark came for the night yesterday which was nice. I explained to him about the water so he was careful. He went to a chess meeting today in Totnes with OH which was nice company for his dad. They both love playing Chess but I'm not really interested in it.
Bye for now All the best x
thanks for your comment on my blog. That is awful about the water. I agree with you, you don't drain a reservoir just for the heck of it!
